Quantum of Solace SUCKED

No, I'm not talking about the movie, the movie was pretty badass even though it lacked a good story. The movie got me so excited to play through the game because the movie was action packed and I wanted to experience that through Bond himself. Anyways, this will seem pretty biased, because I am writing this off of the first 20 minutes of playing the game.

I just wasn't into it. The controls were pretty bland, not that great to get used to and it just felt weird. They were almost identical to the Call of Duty controls because the developers were Treyarch, which also developed COD5(which I'll write review on later) but they added some other controls which just made it worse to play with. The graphics were an insult to the PS3 console, it looked like it was an upgraded version of the PS2 but wasn't PS3 material. The explosions looked so fake, and there were easily noticeable explosive canisters that can be seen from a mile away because every 2 seconds they give off a bright ass shine. The AI from the enemies were so simple and stupid you can easily just run up to every single enemy and physically take them down yourself. Even the takedowns were getting old quick, every other takedown was the exact same thing but they slowed it down to make it look epic but it wasn't, it was repetitive.

It was (Call of Duty + James Bond) divided by 4 = Quantum of Suckage. Again, this is only from the first 20 minutes of playing. Trust me, I honestly TRIED to like this game and play through after watching the movie, I even tried to force myself to play through the game but it just wasn't working for me. It was a real disappointment because I thought this game would differ from other "movie games" but it didn't, it just dug itself a deeper hole in the crap pile.

So if you were thinking of getting this game, which I hope you weren't, forget it and save your $60 bucks and buy a real game. Or at least watch this movie, and 5 other movies too. I recommend Role Models btw which was hilarious...

REVIEW: LittleBigPlanet

It's been awhile since I played LBP so this review might be a little iffy. As with mostly everyone who owns a PS3, I was really anticipating what was called to be a big exclusive platformer. I bought on it's release and was not disappointed. The intro is very interactive and gives notice and credit to the people who made the game which all games should do. The story mode was really fun and there are a lot of unlockables that can keep you coming back for more. But where LBP truly shines is the online play. There are so many user-created levels that it can keep you gaming for hours on end.

The levels you can play online are featured on planets which there are only 5 of them, so if you played all levels on all the planets, then you'd have to search for new ones which can be hard to find good ones. Think of it as a youtube for LBP levels, the best ones are usually featured on the first planet and so on, and the rest you can find by "hearting"(which is just like subscribing) an author or by search.

It is a really fun game to play with friends online or off and the graphics are amazing. The music sort of gets old after awhile but then you won't get tired of it. The gameplay is so simple that is works.

Verdict: 9 out of 10, or A if you want a grade letter.

KILLZONE 2 BETA IS OUT!

Finally! The moment we've all been waiting for! Guerilla Games is giving out the beta of what will be the most badass game that will ever hit the planet which is Killzone 2! Maybe this is all part of that "change" Obama was talking about. The sad part about it is that it's allll about LUCK of getting that email with that beta code.

So check your emails constantly! And if you have an extra beta code for me, I will guarantee you that I will paypal you 10 dollars straight out of my pocket.

Become The President

It is the day after the election, and it is apparent that the next President of the United States is Barack Obama.

Now, thanks to the Mercenaries 2 DLC you can become Obama himself and kick ass as the President. Or if you want, become Sarah Palin and also kick ass as her as well. The renders are surprisingly accurate...

With that said, I'm sure you are wondering what it will mean to gamers with Obama as President. Ok you probably weren't wondering that, but here is President Obama's stance on video games pertaining a question asked to him about video games.

The video game question posed to Obama in that survey:

“To date, nearly 10 states have considered legislation to keep violent video games out of kids’ hands. Would you support this type of legislation at the federal level? What other strategies would you support to keep the video game industry and other media companies from marketing and selling inappropriate content to children?”

Obama’s answer:

“A: We need to give parents the tools and information they need to make choices about what programs their children are watching or what video games they are playing. As we move towards a digital environment, there is a golden opportunity for the industry to do this on their own—to use the latest in technology to give parents more information and more choice. For example, this technology could make it possible for parents to create their own family tier just by programming their television to block certain channels, block certain genres of programming like dramas, or block television at certain times of the day. The same can be said of video games, especially as we’re moving into an era when they can be downloaded as easily as today’s movies and television shows.

“I would call upon the video game industry to give parents better information about programs and video games by improving the voluntary rating system we currently have. Broadcasters and video game producers should take it upon themselves to improve this system to include easier to find and easier to understand descriptions of exactly what kind of content is included. But if the industry fails to act, then my administration would.

“And even if the industry does do some responsible self-policing, there’s still a role for the federal government to play. We need to understand the impact of these new media better. That’s why I supported federal funding to study the impact of video games on children’s cognitive development.”(1)

Camille Doc Does Bond

There's really not much to expect from the upcoming Bond game based off the movie Quantum of Solace. It's for hardcore Bond fans and for everyone else, I'd say it's worth the rent.

I also haven't really been checking up on the movie either and it's release is Nov.14th so I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a lot of advertising but to get a head start. Check out Camille Doc's video as she discusses working on the movie and the videogame. But really, it's just an excuse for me to post a video of her hotness which I've just discovered by watching this video. And you like what I did with the title there? It's funny because most likely it's going to be true, figuratively and literally.

L4D: Left 4 Dead (Mikey You're Nuts)

Alright, I just read Mikey's thoughts on L4D and how he happened to compare it to Dead Space and Bioshock. Let's just take a second to see the differences shall we?

Here's a little peek at the Dead Space gameplay...

Hmm...ok, now let's have a little bit of Bioshock...

That's pretty cool...now let's watch the TOTAL FUCKING CARNAGE THAT IS -LEFT 4 DEAD-

Left 4 Dead, unlike Dead Space and Bioshock, is unscripted. In Left 4 Dead, they give you an environment,an extraction point, and then the computer spawns HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS of zombies upon you.

It's a 4-Player multiplayer game, you must help each of your friends survive and work as a team. You think you can take it solo? WRONG. The computers A.I. will amass zombies to cut of any sort of help from you to your three buddies while they mob you to death. It's either work as a team or die alone.

You can play as 4 survivors helping each other to get out, or be the 4 Zombie Bosses (that all have unique abilities) to kill them, so up to an 8 player game with 4 survivors and 4 Zombie Bosses...

and if you couldn't tell by the gameplay, it's a CLUSTER FUCK

Left4Dead will be AWESOME

- Justin

Left 4 Dead, Killzone Nostalgia and Twitter

Recently the videogame developers behind Left 4 Dead just released the intro movie in the remaining few week left of anticipation for the game. I couldn't find an HD quality video so you'll just have to settle with a youtube link, but I don't think it hinders the viewing experience though.

From watching that video, it seems it portrays the feel of the game, always looking over your shoulder and feeling vulnerable at all times. But from what I can see, it doesn't differ from many horror games such as Dead Space or BioShock did.

Anyways, since the latest trailer from Killzone, watching this video of almost 8 minutes of Killzone 2 Beta gameplay...

and this seeing this mesmerizing .gif from Killzone 2 as well...

Photobucket
Looks like this Helghan just got RAPED

It had me thinking about the game and its long overdue release date. I just can't wait that long for February to come around anymore. I've had the strategy guide and the first Killzone game, but I lost/misplaced both while remodeling my room and I am in dire need of a Killzone fix. Which is why I'm planning to buy the guide and game again when I buy EndWar this coming Tuesday.

Supposedly you can still play the multiplayer online through your PS3, which I haven't done with Killzone since I didn't have the internet back in the day. I would also like to play through the campaign again because I remember it being fun to play. What I really want to play is the multiplayer in modes such as capture the flag and my favorite, assualt. I miss the gritty graphics, the maps, and especially the weapons.

For those anxiously waiting for the Killzone 2 Beta as I am, I highly recommend logging your name onto www.killzone.com just to increase your chances of getting a beta key. I'm a part of the Killzone community on there so add me as a friend if you're willing to be part of it too. The community on the site is still quite small and I'm trying to be active on the forums enough to get myself noticed to get a beta key once it comes out.I know how nerdy it sounds but hey, I really want that beta key more than anything right now and I'm sure you probably will to when the time comes to it, early bird gets the worm right?

So yeah, I might be the only one here, but who's willing to buy the first Killzone again or replay if you already have it and play with me online? Nobody?...

Oh and if you haven't looked to the right by now, we are now also on Twitter so you can know what we're doing and what we're playing so check that out as well if you're checking this.

What To Expect from COD5:WaW

Call of Duty 5 is just a few weeks away from it's release date and even with all the hype around it, we still don't know what to expect. That is, until this video from IGN telling us absolutely EVERYTHING in multiplayer.

James Gordon Pictures, Images and Photos
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordan

I guess you can say I just got a bit more excited for this game. The overwhelming of options surrounding the multiplayer looks like we will have another WWII shooter unlike any other.

Dead Space Review

What can I say about Dead Space that hasn’t been said already? It’s awesome. From the first time you see the back of Isaac Clark to his crew mates on their little repair dingy spaceship approaching the USG Ishimura, you know at the moment, damn this is going to be good.

If there is a need to even begin to describe the story of Dead Space you should be ashamed. You should have been following the story from the previews by now or have already played through the game, twice. But in case you don’t know the story, let me summarize it for you.

This story takes place hundreds of years in the future where planet Earth has ran out of natural resources and has created huge spaceships to venture into space and start mining planets by literally “cracking them”. You take the place of an engineer named Issac Clark, who is sent to repair the “Planet Cracker”, which is the USG Ishimura. The USG Ishimura is the flag ship in the fleet of planet crackers, it’s the biggest one out there. You and your crew are sent to the Ishimura to repair what is assumed to be a damaged communications array (The USG Ishimura has been silent and has gone “dark” for a week or so).

From then on Issacs tale goes downhill.
You get to meet the multi-limbed mutated crew members that want to rip your face off and somehow make your way off the ship.

I must say, this may be the scariest game I have ever played. And I’m saying that even after a few Silent Hills and Blood Curses, Dead Space did me in. It’s riddled with plenty of jump scares that have been designed from the ground up to scare the poop out of you. The puzzles built into the game play using what is called “Stasis” (which makes things move slower) and it's freakin brilliant, and I have to admit that the kinesis you have in the game is more enjoyable than in Star Wars: TFU. An example of a puzzle that uses Stasis will be like, There’s a door that is glitched and it keeps on slamming shut and opening at a speed that would hurt you if you tried to regularly stroll through, you would have to slow it down (using Stasis) to walk through.

Ok poor example, but still awesome.

Anyways, Dead Space was well worth the money. Awesome scares, good controls, and strategic dismemberment takes a bit to get used to but its fun. The game definitely has lived up to its “this will scare the shit outta you" hype. So it’s a buy!

Grade: A

REVIEW: Mirror's Edge Demo

I just recently downloaded EndWar and Mirror's Edge from the PlayStation Store and I must say that these demos are worth your HDD space.

I first played Mirror's Edge and the first thing I took notice was the visuals. So clean and crisp it was amazing to look at. The controls were fairly easy to get used to since there are only a few buttons to do the actions.

In the first half of the demo, you go through a very linear training which shows you everything your character can do such as scaling walls, jumping gaps, jumping over obstacles, and balancing on poles. It was very easy but the only thing I had trouble with was positioning myself perfectly for jumps because I cannot see my feet and I didn't know whether it was the right moment to jump or not but I got the feel of where my feet were as I played along.

In the second half, you are brought to a prologue mission which is probably the first mission in the game maybe. You are to use everything you've learned during the training exercise. It felt really short because in the second half of the mission you are constantly running away from the boys in blue atop of the city rooftops. The cinematics look just like the gameplay but the animation on the other character's faces could be worked on but other than that, everything was nice.

During the demo I just wanted to run and jump around carelessly without being penalized. I figured out a way where I can do as much jumping around as I can without starting over. During the training exercise, after you jump over the barbed wire, and use the jumping pad. Right after you climb onto the roof before you try your combat exercise, immediately turn left and climb onto the roof. There you can run around the WHOLE training ground for as long as you want only if you don't go to the roof where your partner is. I found myself spending about an hour just running around seeing what I can do and where I can go.

At first I wasn't going to buy this game but this demo really got me interested. There is also a time trial mode which has its own leaderboards server provided by the developers. But the only way you can play it is by pre-ordering the game which will give you a code. That is very smart marketing move by the developers since it makes its user want to play more.

Life with PlayStation

For some reason, after I'm done playing a game I can't just turn of my PS3 because I don't want to "waste time" by turning it on, signing in, and scrolling to the right and all that junk, even though it only takes about 10 seconds to do all of those. But I usually take around two hour breaks between playing videogames after long periods of time so I just leave my PS3 on so it'll be ready right when I come back to it.

Now that can be called as a waste of energy, but at the same time I'm also helping to find a cure for cancer. How, you ask? There was a program called "Folding @ Home" for PlayStation users that ran while they let their PS3 sit idle, it ran through numerous simulations of protein folds. It is a research conducted by Stanford University, which uses people's PS3 as separate computers to conduct these simulations on their own server.

A while ago there was an update for the program which turned it into "Life with PlayStation". It is a new and updated program which delivers content such as worldwide news and information centering on two themes, "place" and "time" on a world map interface and at the same time conducting the same simulations as it did before.

"Some of the live content includes; cloud imagery (provided by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center), along with weather information (provided by The Weather Channel), news headlines (provided by Google News™), and live camera images (partially provided by The Earth Television Network) of nearly 60 cities around the globe. Through LIVE CHANNEL, PS3 users will be able to enjoy worldwide news and live information free of charge. In addition to LIVE CHANNEL, Life with PlayStation will continually deliver a wide variety of interactive content and channels to living rooms through the network connected PS3s to further enhance the world of entertainment made possible by PS3. "(1)

You can download this program as "Folding @ Home" from your XMB under the network column and it will update it to "Life with PlayStation"

I highly recommend this program because statistics showed that the program increased scientist's research by 15 years and at the same time providing users real time news and imagery.

Halloween + Video Games = 1 Badass Costume!

With Halloween two days away, I'm still not sure what I want to be yet because I'm not creative as many of my other friends are. But I've been looking around the internet and saw some of the best videogame costumes ever. I will list 8 of what I thought were the most badass of them all.

8. Any Final Fantasy Character

Photobucket

Anybody pulling of a Final Fantasy character is pretty awesome, but I preferably want them to be women.

7. Chell, Companion Cube, and "The Cake" from Portal

Photobucket

One of the most simple and beloved games which many people love and recreate, except for Chell, that chick in the picture looks nothing close to her. *shudders* I made the pic extra small to save your eyes.

6. Gordan Freeman from Half-Life 2

Photobucket

Face it, this guy pretty much got the main characters looks down which makes him seem badass.

5. Chun-Li (or any Street Fighter) from Street Fighter

Photobucket

This woman could've been perfect as Chun-Li, if it weren't for her lack of chest, wtf.

4. Master Chief from Halo

Photobucket

This doesn't need a picture comparison because we all know what Master Chief looks like, and this person is it.

3. Link from Zelda

Photobucket

This also doesn't need a comparison pic because Link is one of the most memorable characters to date. But then these girls aren't wearing green and they're not even boys, but I don't think you would mind.

2. Samus from Metroid Prime

Photobucket

You've probably seen this picture of this girl's display as Samus, but if not, here it is. Perfect.

1. Big Daddy and Little Sister from Bioshock

Photobucket

The reason this made number one on the list is because it takes two to tango, err not in this situation, but this is the best combo of video game costumes I've ever seen. I only played Bioshock for an hour until I just said "F it!" and returned the game. Seeing this in real-life would make me shit my pants, especially that Little Sister...I hate those things.

Well that was it for the best videogame costumes you can pick out or maybe top which is highly unlikely. Find any better ones?

Need More Reason To Anticipate Killzone 2?

Well, I have just the thing for you.

It's the new Killzone 2 Trailer by Guerilla Games. Check it out below.

Now we've all been waiting for this game ever since we saw E3 footage BEFORE the PS3 came out. It has had us anticipating it even before day 1 and the wait is almost over...by a couple of months that is. It frustrates me that they've shown a game dubbed as the "Halo Killer" which wouldn't come out 2 years after it's console debut. Now there's already been a "Halo Killer" and that was COD4, and Killzone 2 now has to top COD4(Which I'm pretty certain it will) and give higher expectation than never before because of its delay.

Now I may have been the select few that actually enjoyed the first Killzone despite its bad reviews. It's opening intro was probably one of the best intros I've ever seen in a videogame. Just because I think it' so cool, I'm showing it to you here.

Damn, that speech was somewhat inspiring, making me want to become a Helghan. I was pretty disappointed that we're weren't in the shoes of the orange-eyed army, but it made them seem all the more badass. The thing I liked about the first one was the gritty graphics, its storyline, and the fact that it had bots, which Killzone 2 will also have.

Anyways, went off topic for a bit there. I want Killzone 2 to come out NOW, or at least play the beta which Europeans have already played! WTF?! Make it available in the US too! Well, for now all we can do is just wait for not much longer until we get the game our PS3's are destined to play...

Zombies Just Invaded COD5!

Yes, you read the title correctly, there are zombies in Call of Duty 5. No, the campaign story mode didn't turn into a sci-fi story. Treyarch just announced that there will be a zombie mode in COD5. The only way you can unlock the game mode is by beating the campaign mode first to be able to play it.

I couldn't find a youtube or an embeddable video talking about it, but here's the link to the gametrailer site that does.

COD5: Zombie Mode

So apparently from the video we've just seen, you and up to three other players are stuck in a house fending off the flesh-eating zombies. You can board up the windows Half-Life 2 style to protect your base from the invasion of Nazi zombies. Communication is vital for everyone to survive such as updating your teammates know what you are doing at all times and what is happening around your area.

What excites me the most is that there are INFINITE levels, meaning the zombie outbreak will NEVER stop until everyone is dead/infected. This makes teamwork and communication more important than it already is. Supposedly the folks at Treyarch can only go up to level 23/24, will you help me get pass that once the game comes out?

The only thing that puzzles me is that they mentioned money. Money? Is the use of xp for unlocking weapons out the window and we have to rely on money to get what we want instead of using our skill or play time? Or is just for that game mode where you receive money as you kill the zombies? I'm really hoping it's the second one, but only time will tell.

Can the November 11 release date for Call of Duty: World at War cannot come any faster?!

UPDATE: Here's gameplay from the zombie mode, seems pretty fun/intense to me.

Horror Games and "On The Radar: Resident Evil 5"

I'm not afraid to admit it, but I'm not one for playing horror games because well...I get scared easily. I can't even play Bioshock right now which I rented yesterday because it's the wee hours of the morning and it's dark and quiet which makes it at least five times scarier(to me, I don't care about you), so I'm just waiting to play it when daylight comes. It's ridiculous to me that I even rented it because I usually stay away from horror games but the hype around horror games lately have me interested.

So I want to fill my curiosity by playing these games to understand why they've become so popular so I'm just going to suck it up and play them, during the day of course. I'm even borrowing Dead Space from Justin next week even though I'm pretty scared but the reviews from gamers and critics alike have me intrigued.

When the PS3 first came out, one of my first games was F.E.A.R. It was the last out of the collection of games that I bought(I have a somewhat large library of PS3 games) that I've played because I wasn't prepared to play it. So one day I finally came across the brink of boredom to actually play it and man...I only lasted 30min of gameplay before stopping. The moment that stopped me was while I was climbing a ladder, the 'Ring' bitch (I don't know what she really is, but it's pretty much the same chick so whatever) was staring and crawling and me and at that exact moment I was like "F THAT!". So the next day I sold the game for credit to replace it with Ratchet and Clank, which is actually a very fun and good game by the way. So that's my take on horror games, unlike Justin who likes horror games.

Now the reason I've just rambled about that is because for the first time in my life, I'm really anticipating a horror game which is Resident Evil 5. The reason why is not because I like the series or the graphics. It is because of the announcement that RE5 is going to have online co-op play. Hell yeah.

Now I can experience these disturbing and horrific adventures with a friend instead of having to deal with every dead/zombie thing by myself anymore. To me, the addition of co-op play in RE5 sounds more fun than scary, even though playing horror games are supposed to be "fun" by itself (but not for me). You will always have to communicate with a partner so you'll have the feeling of never being alone, which is the main reason I don't like horror games. You will also have to rely on each other to watch each others back and take out the flesh-hungry zombies or else it will end in drastic consequences. There are also apparently moments where both players will have to work seperately, such as Player 1 trying to destroy a lock while Player 2 kills off zombies running up the staircase behind them. You can also knock zombies off your partner if they're being attacked. You can play via split-screen on the same PS3(which is kinda ehh for, I gotta see clearly where they're coming from), or you can play online with a friend which is my preference but I won't play without my headset because communication is vital. Speaking of headsets, I'm pretty stoked getting the official PS3 bluetooth along with Endwar as Justin mentioned in the previous blog.

Anyways, with everything said, that is the reason why Resident Evil 5 is now on my radar.

- Mikey

EDIT: Okay apparently the addition of co-op play in RE5, has already been announced and I'm kinda late on the news, but whatever, sue me.

Endwar goes GOLD. And im buying the Bundle pack!

Yes! That's right! Endwar has gone GOLD!!!! Nov. 4

If you've been keeping on what type of packages they sell with Endwar, one of them happens to be a bundle pack including the game (obviously) and the new PS3 official bluetooth headset. WHOO!

Need I say more? Ever since Socom: Confrontation's bundle came with the headset I was tempted to pick it up, but sadly I didn't. Mainly because I hate Socom with a passion. I've never liked the series and probably never will, but this headset actually made me think about picking it up.

Good thing Endwar now comes with it going for $79.99, it's been rumored you could find it for something around $69.99.

So hopefully I can find the cheaper one, but if I can't I'm just going to spend the $80 and get on with it.

Call of Duty 5, will it succeed COD4?

As a faithful buyer to the Call of Duty franchise, I'm compelled to say "Yes, it is worth it." But to a regular consumer/buyer, is it really worth buying when there are many much more anticipated games?

As the gaming community knows, COD4 was a bigger success than everyone expected it to be, the community grew rapidly, and it even beat Halo on the XBOX servers. Most of the reason why is because the developers that handled the game was Infinity Ward. Now most of you know that COD5 is being developed by Treyarch and not IW, who developed COD3 which was not as great of a WWII-shooter it could've been. Because of that, there are many misconceptions that Treyarch's COD5 will not succeed IW's well-recieved COD4.

Luckily for us gamers, Treyarch has duly noted our reactions to their sucky predecessor and IW's best game yet and fixed their mistakes and mishaps and finally did it right. From the videos I've seen, such as gameplay, graphics and the cinematics, I truly believe COD5 will succeed COD4, not community-wise(because COD4's community is insanely huge), but as a game itself. The game has much improved graphics and the gameplay looks almost identical to COD4, but in a WWII setting. Treyarch brought on new additions to the game like bringing back (mostly) everybody's favorite game mode which was absent from COD4, which was 'Capture The Flag', an addition of having dogs in multiplayer to hunt and maul the enemy, and new WWII weapons such as the flamethrower and molotiv cocktails. COD5 has much more more to offer than COD4. They've taken note of such games as Halo, Gears of War, and Army of Two and added online co-op for the campaign for the first time in the COD franchise. Up to 4 players and join each other in the fight against the enemy. The

Everything from COD4, from the looks of it, has jumped to COD5, which is the kill streaks bonuses, the xp system, and the customizable perks. Also something that got me really excited is the availibility of tanks in the multiplayer where it can be manned by two people. The maps also look bigger and more complex. There are a total of 14 multiplayer maps than can be played, and Treyarch is developing more for download after its release.

Gone, are the days of relying on technology to find and defeat your enemies. You must now rely on what you see, hear, and most importantly, your weapon. I doubt this is going to a typical WWII-shooter because it will bring you to the darker and grittier side of war..."How?" you ask? Let's see how Treyarch brings us through the streets of Berlin in this video.

So there, I've said it, COD5 will succeed COD4 and I'm going to buy it once it comes out which is Nov. 14

Oh yeah, EndWar comes out a couple of days earlier so November is going to be a fun month of gaming. Join me?

Why I am not picking up Bioshock (ps3)

THEN I found out the price. Are you freakin serious? A year old game still $60?
I understand its a "new release" but its of an old game. WTF
To top that off, if you've been keeping up with the reviews of Bioshock PS3 and what people have been saying about it, HAVE YOU SEEN THE BIG DADDY GRAPHIC!??!
PS3 Big Daddy...
360 Big Daddy...See a difference?
The graphics are HORRIBLE, a lot of the colors are pixelated...it's horrible...just totally horrible...
I refuse to pay for a game that was released earlier on a different console with shitty port graphics for the exact same price that a top notch, new release, and polished game.
Basically,
1) The game is overpriced (I'll wait till it drops)
2) The graphics are even a bigger downer for that price...
Once the price drops At $30-$40 I'll consider picking it up but until then I'll pass.

Thoughts On Endwar

I've followed Endwar since the beginning. I've re-read the slogan 'At the speed of thought' about a million times.

Ever since watching the tons of videos demonstrating the voice commands, I've convinced myself it's going to turn strategy games for consoles a new one. A new strategy game for consoles is just what this genre needs to pick itself back up off its sorry butt and get back into the game.

There are worries that the voice commands are going to be sketchy since for the past 3-5 years voice commands weren't that hot. and let's be honest, there hasn't really been ANY good voice command games out there in the first place. But! there have been several videos stating that the voice commands really work (watch the video with the PMS clan playing), and that its a really reliable system. so HA!

I'm sad that it comes out WAY in Nov.6

(I'll add more to this as the days go on, I just thought I'd say something about it.)

Cross your fingers!

So I sent in my name to try and get the Resistance 2 Multiplayer Beta. Hopefully I get it.

It was a pain in the ass to even enter because I didn't use my personal information on my PSN, which meant when I try to sign up for the Beta I had to guess what I did to my information the first time I had signed up. The password I totally forgot didn't help me in anyway possible but thankfully I found it out anyways ( 30mins later -_-" )

Anyways, my impressions on Resistance 2 have been a little rocky since I personally didn't care about R:FoM. But as of recent Resistance 2 has been shaping up into quite a game. The graphics are improved, which is great because the first game was an eye sore compared to other titles that were out around the same time like Gears Of War. And it now has an 8 Player Co-op story mode, which I believe will blow my friggin mind!

Basically, Resistance 2 has got me caught in its hype bubble. Lets hope it's a hit.

I've been keeping up on sites like http://www.prepareforthefuture.com/ and http://www.fallout.bethsoft.com/ not to mention Fallout 3 wiki.

Dead Space Releasing Early!

I was looking around and found out that Dead Space is actually going to be released a week earlier then when it was orignally supposed to be. Sweet! How often does that happen?!

So im excited, and hopefully the game will be as awsome as im wishing it to be.

Ive been following Dead Space for awhile, taking peeks at trailers, reading up on the previews, and so far its looking up to be a pretty good action thriller.

COME ON EA! PULL THROUGH!

REVIEW: Resistance 2 Beta

I was one of the limited people of the Playstation Network to be able to play this demo which is under the name of 'Girl With A Stick' on the XMB.

Those who were fans of the first Resistance will absolutely love this game. The graphics seemed a bit different but it definitely works with the updated look and feel of the environment. The gameplay is pretty similar to the first one, but I sometimes have trouble with sprinting because I find myself rapidly pressing L2(the sprint button) because I couldn't tell if I was sprinting or not. The sprint speed to me looks like it's about .5 faster than the regular speed.

The game is similar to its predecessor considering the make and look of the maps. For example, here's glitches that are easy to exploit in almost every map, just like the first Resistance.

The multiplayer mode, Cooperative, is what makes this game really fun. There are three classes you can choose between three classes: Soldier, Medic and Spec Ops. It is really essential for all these three to work together to advance in a level. The soldier's task is to lead the team and provide cover with his 'shield barrier' while heavily damaging the enemy. The medic's task is to keep everybody in his vicinity at full health while lightly damaging the enemy. Spec Ops task is to provide ammo to his team but has a sniper which is a usually a one-hit kill but has very limited ammo.

The other multiplayer mode, Competitive, is basically Free-For-All and TDM which is not much different from the first game. With the BETA, you're stuck with preset weapons classes and there's a few select maps which seem a little too dark sometimes but they're just as fun.

This game is for those who were fans of the first Resistance and those who are looking for a different, but fun shooter. To me, as fun as the BETA is, I don't think I'll be getting this game because I really doubt I'll be paying attention to this game with holiday season coming up soon with much more anticipated games than this one.

Verdict: 8.5/10

REVIEW: Home Beta

I was able to play Home Beta for the PS3 earlier today. At first, I found it pretty amusing, it's basically a world filled with advertisements of upcoming games. You can go to the movie theater to watch game trailers and such, you can go bowling, and chat with people.

Your house is whatever you want it to be, you can place furniture and decorations anywhere. I find it to be very similar to The Sims. After awhile of playing Home Beta, I found myself to be really bored. It's basically living a life through your PS3.

I find it only to be useful to chat with friends instead of the standard side-to-side screen chat. You can also launch a game straight from Home. What else is there...I can't really think of anything else that is useful or as interesting as that.

My final verdict is that Home is pointless, why would you need to escape into another boring world from ours? Isn't that somewhat part of the reason that we play videogames in the first place? So that we're in a virtual world different from ours to forget our little conflicts in life and let ourselves go in a virtual fantasy world where there are no boundaries? Maybe I'm wrong, but if your life seriously sucks and you have no friends, I guess Home would be the thing for you, to live a life within your life.

Fall-Winter 2008 Shopping List

Justin: This is my shopping list for the upcoming Fall/Winter. O dear god, all my money...

WarHammer Online: Age Of Reckoning (Release Date: Sept 16) PC
Left4Dead (Release Date: Nov 20) PC

Dead Space (Release Date: Oct 20) PS3
Bioshock (Release Date: Oct 21) PS3
LittleBigPlanet (Release Date: Oct 21) PS3
Fallout 3 (Release Date: Oct 28) PS3
Resistance 2 (Release Date: Nov 4) PS3
Tom Clancy's EndWar (Release Date: Nov 4) PS3
Mirror's Edge (Release Date: Nov 11) PS3

Ok, there maybe a very likely chance that ill be broke by the end of this year. But its all worth it considering the titles that are coming out. The biggest title I want to get this year is Left4Dead(expect to see an expectation blog on it very soon) which will hopefully be as awsome as it is predicted to be.

Some really Big titles missing from my shopping list maybe the cause of the shitty PC I have, and my lack of interest in other titles.

Im also not expecting all these titles to be released on time this year, almost everything is delayed close to release; no big suprise there. (Cries over Killzone2)

My Bill will come out close to some $500-$600 T_T

REVIEW: Star Wars Force Unleashed

I finally played the demo that was out for about a week now. I wouldn't say I'm satisfied but I wouldn't say I'm disappointed.

Right off the bat, my only complaint about the demo is that the 'force grip' took a little bit getting used to which I wasn't. There's even a tutorial to help you get used to it but I felt it wasn't enough. I still played through the demo hoping I'd finally get the hang of it, but I still didn't. Although it was fun throwing objects and lifeless bodies of stormtroopers around, it was still a little hard to aim for a direction you wanted it to go in.

There's a force meter which limits to how much 'force' you can use at one point, but thankfully it only takes about 3-5 seconds for it to be back to normal.

The gameplay is fairly easy and takes a bit getting used to. I found myself abusing unleashing the force (see what I did there?) too much to where I want to smash objects with each other to the point where I got kind of bored.

I'm a big Star Wars fan, and I'm most likely going to get this game when it comes out but I feel it might be a waste because there's a crapload of good games coming out in the third quarter of the year and I want to be able to play all of them without going broke.

Justin: FAIL of the week

Theres nothing that screams DOUCHE BAG more then a bluetooth.

....do i even need a caption?

Think about it, dont only think, take a look around. see anyone talking to themselves? Yup, nothing like making yourself look like a retard. Its even better when you make an ass out of yourself thinking they're talking to you untill you identify the hidden bluetooth.

Im not saying the bluetooth is a bad piece of equipment, far from it. its an awsome hands free device...just why, why must I look like a Douche bag wearing it?

PS3: The Last Guy DEMO/ Starwars: The Force Unleashed DEMO

So I downloaded The last guy demo off of the the PlaystationStore and i must say that i am suprised at how awsome the game concept is. basically your a little guy in a city that runs around houses and buildings while people flock to you (imagen snake and pac-man combined). you dodge zombies in the street while gathering civilians and leading them to an extraction zone or safe zone. the longer line of civilians you've gathered the higher score it'll be when you drop them off.

A fully pulled back picture of A city you run around in the demo

I've played through the demo andthe controls are fairly easy. You use the left analog stick to move around "the last guy" and the right to control the camera. The Circle button is to group your line of civilians (if they're to spread out or in to long of a line). The Triangle button is to give your guy a quick speed boost to make you and your civilians run faster. The X button gives you a sort of thermal vision that lets you see where densely packed civilans are inside buildings. The downside of using it is while you hold the X button to pinpoint civilians it makes zombies invisible so its better to use just to quickly identify which building to run too.

Im looking forwards to buying this game Aug. 28 for $9.99
