I was one of the limited people of the Playstation Network to be able to play this demo which is under the name of 'Girl With A Stick' on the XMB.
Those who were fans of the first Resistance will absolutely love this game. The graphics seemed a bit different but it definitely works with the updated look and feel of the environment. The gameplay is pretty similar to the first one, but I sometimes have trouble with sprinting because I find myself rapidly pressing L2(the sprint button) because I couldn't tell if I was sprinting or not. The sprint speed to me looks like it's about .5 faster than the regular speed.
The game is similar to its predecessor considering the make and look of the maps. For example, here's glitches that are easy to exploit in almost every map, just like the first Resistance.
The multiplayer mode, Cooperative, is what makes this game really fun. There are three classes you can choose between three classes: Soldier, Medic and Spec Ops. It is really essential for all these three to work together to advance in a level. The soldier's task is to lead the team and provide cover with his 'shield barrier' while heavily damaging the enemy. The medic's task is to keep everybody in his vicinity at full health while lightly damaging the enemy. Spec Ops task is to provide ammo to his team but has a sniper which is a usually a one-hit kill but has very limited ammo.
The other multiplayer mode, Competitive, is basically Free-For-All and TDM which is not much different from the first game. With the BETA, you're stuck with preset weapons classes and there's a few select maps which seem a little too dark sometimes but they're just as fun.
This game is for those who were fans of the first Resistance and those who are looking for a different, but fun shooter. To me, as fun as the BETA is, I don't think I'll be getting this game because I really doubt I'll be paying attention to this game with holiday season coming up soon with much more anticipated games than this one.
Verdict: 8.5/10
