I was able to play Home Beta for the PS3 earlier today. At first, I found it pretty amusing, it's basically a world filled with advertisements of upcoming games. You can go to the movie theater to watch game trailers and such, you can go bowling, and chat with people.
Your house is whatever you want it to be, you can place furniture and decorations anywhere. I find it to be very similar to The Sims. After awhile of playing Home Beta, I found myself to be really bored. It's basically living a life through your PS3.
I find it only to be useful to chat with friends instead of the standard side-to-side screen chat. You can also launch a game straight from Home. What else is there...I can't really think of anything else that is useful or as interesting as that.
My final verdict is that Home is pointless, why would you need to escape into another boring world from ours? Isn't that somewhat part of the reason that we play videogames in the first place? So that we're in a virtual world different from ours to forget our little conflicts in life and let ourselves go in a virtual fantasy world where there are no boundaries? Maybe I'm wrong, but if your life seriously sucks and you have no friends, I guess Home would be the thing for you, to live a life within your life.
